Ming 19.02 Worldtimer - 2020
Ming 19.02 Worldtimer
Ming are the current darlings of the independent watch movement, and their meteoric rise from micro-brand to fully-fledged independent powerhouse has been swift, and in our opinion well deserved. Their aesthetic is unlike any other, and provide a range of pieces from the quite affordable through to higher end pieces, one of those being the piece we have here.
In late 2017 Ming released the first of their high-end pieces, the GPHG nominated 19.01. It was a big step on from what had previously been offered by the then-new company. The watch buying public, including ourselves, met the new price point with a little trepidation given the previous releases were so affordable. But the 19.01 proved we that in Ming we should trust. With extensive use of sapphire in the case, skeletonization of the dial unlike any other manufacturer, spectacular use of lume and the utilisation of a high-spec Schwartz Etienne manual wind movement with 100 hour power reserve it was a bit of a watershed moment for Ming, and pioneered an aesthetic and construction style that is truly their own.
Fast forward to 2019 and the release of the19.02 which built on the great success of the 19.01 by adding a world time complication, as well as a automatic micro-rotor movement in rose gold to better assist daily wear.
The 39mm grade 5 titanium case utilises the same double box sapphire crystal and signature gradient dial, with a masked section for a titanium 24 hour disk under the dial that displays time across the marked timezones.
Though a lot of the construction is similar to that of the 19.01, the use of the rose gold-coated movement gives it a unique character as you spy it around the transparent edges of the dial. Ming has managed to keep the case within 0.3mm of the 19.01, meaning you're not sacrificing practicality for proportion.
To finish it off, it comes mounted on a stunning handmade strap by Jean Rousseau Paris with another also included.
This particular piece was delivered in May 2020, and is in mint condition with only some very feint hairlines differentiating it from new. Please see images for full condition details.
Includes shipper box, outer box, inner sleeve, travel pouch, and warranty paperwork indicating it is under warranty 15th May 2022.
Is this Ming's finest serially produced piece so far? We think so, and it's probably why you see so few hit the market. Grab this near-new example while you can.
