Breitling SuperOcean Automatic 42 Kelly Slater A173751A1O1S1

Released in 2022 in a limited edition of 1,000 pieces, it was made in collaboration with multiple world champion surfer Kelly Slater for a unique twist on the current SuperOcean formula.

The case measures in at 42mm and is crafted in stainless steel, with a 47.76mm span lug to lug and just 12.56mm thick, which is pretty impressive for a dive watch with 300m of water resistance. The uni-directional 120-click dive bezel is made of steel, with a ceramic insert, and is very thin which makes it feel especially svelte on the wrist, and gives more real estate to the amazing oversized sloped rehaut. Inboard of this lies a bright orange dial, unique for this reference in the 42mm models, and in combination with the lovely deep green strap is what makes this particular reference the Kelly Slater. Atop this dial sits heavily lumed applied and faceted markers, and amazing 70's style minute hand with a very cool pop of green at the tip of the seconds hand which matches the SuperOcean script on the dial. 

Powering it is the automatic Breitling Calibre 17 movement, renowned for it's robust nature, accuracy and ease of servicing. The date feature has been removed, as has it's position on the crown which we love to see, and it also features hacking seconds for accurate setting.

The green rubber strap is mounted close to the case for an almost integrated appearance, and the sliding adjustment on the clasp is fantastic to use, and very practical. It's a very impressive, and comfortable watch on the wrist.

This particular piece was purchased in July 2022 and presents in TZ 'Good' condition. Has been worn regularly, and the sides of the case and tops of the lugs show scuffs and light scratches rub marks. Case back shows scratching. There's also some small nicks on the tops of the lugs, and some dents on the tips of the lower lugs which is the reason for the 'Good' rather than 'Excellent' grading on the TZ scale. The clasp shows desk diving marks. Includes two green strap, both cut. One will suit up to a 7.5in wrist, and the other is quite a bit shorter. Both in excellent condition.

No service history, but much too new for that. Keeping COSC time and all functions operating as they should.
