H. Moser & Cie Endeavour Perpetual Calendar Platinum 1341-0300
H. Moser & Cie Endeavour Perpetual Calendar Platinum 1341-0300
We've sold our fair share of Moser's here at WV HQ, and this is right up there as one of our favourite to date. Obviously by the title we know it's a Perpetual Calendar, impressive in itself, but this watch is a technical powerhouse and a lesson in considered design. It's much more than another perpetual.
Let's start with the Platinum case, which can often by a by-product on Perpetuals but is absolutely not on this one. It measures in at a very manageable 40.8mm, though tends to wear slightly larger as the bezel is not particularly thick. Speaking of that bezel, it's at this point that you start to see just how much work has gone into this case. Looking at it in photos it looks completely round and symmetrical, but it is not. It pinches in at the flanks, and flares at 6 and 12 which is striking in the metal, with a concave profile. The sides of the case are also concave on it's outer polished edges, with a beautiful brushed section piercing it through the middle.
The caseback is probably worth a paragraph on it's own, as it dramatically curves to follow the curvature of the wrist, including a curved sapphire crystal. Take a look at the photos and you'll see just how dramatic this curvature is. Extremely cool. With all of this detail you'd think the thickness might get a little out of control, but it absolutely does not; it's just 11.1mm thick.
Within this gorgeous case lies a sunburst grey dial. The indices are applied 18k white gold, with matching white gold hands. It is remarkable clean for a Perpetual, but contains all of the information you need with a month indicator, date, power reserve, running seconds with the leap year indicator hidden on the movement.
The movement in most Mosers is something to behold, but in this it is at another level again. Known as the HMC 341 it is a manual wind, with twin barrels enabling it a monstrous 7 day minimum power reserve, free sprung balance, overcoil hairspring, and a spectacular finish that shows amazing depth in person. It features hacking seconds, and the Perpetual function can also be changed both forwards and backwards thanks to the ingenious Andreas Strehler designed Perpetual module, and is very satisfying to use with a heavily engineered feel to the date change and lovely winding click. The mere fact that you can move the Perpetual forwards and backwards makes this the most practical execution of this complication in our opinion.
Finishing it off is a Moser 'gator strap on platinum deployant which not only looks great, but is super comfortable on the wrist.
This particular example was purchased in 2019 and presents in TZ 'Good' condition. Shows minor scratches and swirlies, but nothing deep. There is some pitting to the surfaces, mainly seen on the polished sections. It's not deep, and looks like it could be polished out if desired. What looks to be a dusk fleck can also be seen on the outer edge of the date window. See images for full condition details.
No service history. All operating as it should, and keeping time at around +8 to +11 secs a day measured at multiple points of it's 7 day power reserve.
Includes shipping box, outer box, inner box, undated warranty card, instruction manual, hang tags, corrector for the leap year and Watch Vault cleaning cloth.
