Grand Seiko Hi-Beat Gold Cap 4520-8000 - 1970
Grand Seiko Hi-Beat Gold Cap 4520-8000
One of the most beautiful Grand Seiko pieces ever made, and highly sought after for good reason. The 4520-8000 is part of the 45GS family, featuring Hi-Beat manual wind movements, and produced from 1968-1973 in the famed Daini Seikosha factory who also made the 44GS. While looking quite similar to the 44GS, the 45GS series is quite a bit thinner thanks to its manual wind movement, and in 4520 guise with it's lack of date, is one of the most beautiful and wearable early GS' in our opinion.
This particular piece hails from circa-1970, and presents in excellent vintage condition. Case is thick and sharp, and shows a few dings and scratches from it's 54 years on this planet, but is quite amazing for its age. The gold capping is in excellent condition, with only a few spots around the inner portion of the bezel showing real wear.
The dial is in superb condition, with only some very minor marks present. The applied markers show some light scratches from services, as do the hands and logos.
The case back shows a full medallion, with crisp markings. The plexi shows some nicks and scratches.
Powering it is the calibre 4520 Hi-Beat movement, which is currently keeping time at around +27 seconds a day at high 100's amplitude. Service history is unknown.
Currently mounted to a brand new beautiful German handmade Fluco Mountain Bear leather strap in green, which suits it to a tee.
No box or papers. Comes with Watch Vault Travel Case and Watch Vault cleaning cloth.
You'd be hard pressed to find a much better example than this one, and it's quite astounding value for the amount of watchmaking you're getting. These are still excellent value.
