Rolex Explorer II 16570 Polar 'Swiss Only' A serial

The current darling of the pre-ceramic Rolex world, the 16570 Explorer has found it’s way out from under the rock it was hiding for all these years and is finally being appreciated by collectors worldwide, and for good reason. In Polar form has long been our favourite of the 5 digit series, with it’s stunning sunburst bezel, black markers rather than white gold as seen on the black dial variant, and that crisp white dial from which it gains it’s moniker.

To make this piece that little more special it is an A-serial dating from 1999, meaning it is a transitional 'Swiss Only' dial.

This particular example presents in excellent vintage condition. Case is thick, with clear bevels in place. The bezel shows a nice finish, with some scratching and scuffs from regular use. The case shows some scratching, scuffs and some small dings commensurate with its age. Nothing large. Please see images for full condition details.

Bracelet is a 78790 with 501B endlinks, and 12 links (fully linked). Clasp code is U12 so very late 1998. Very minimal stretch.

Service history is unknown. Currently running a little fast at around +14 secs per day at 290+ degrees of amplitude.

Comes with inner box, booklet, 1998/1999 calendar, Rolex service receipt from 2006, original stamped papers (expired) and Watch Vault cleaning cloth.
