Omega Speedmaster MKIV Automatic 176.009 - Omega serviced
Omega Speedmaster MKIV Automatic 176.009
These MKIV Speedies are an oft-overlooked reference in the Speedy lineage, but in our opinion it's one of the coolest cushion case references they ever made. Featuring an oh-so-late-60’s case with an amazing sunray pattern and sharply polished bevels, they were to be the successor to the original Speedmaster line, much like the 928 was designed to supersede the 911, but as with the latter the original survived and the new kid on the block was destined to remain an intriguing oddity, but one that just looks better and better with age. Just look at that case finish! Omega has never topped that in our opinion.
Powering it is Omega’s first automatic chronograph movement, which is based on the legendary Lemania 1340, and it gives you running seconds and 24hr indicator at 9, chronograph minutes via a central chronograph hand, 12 hour counter, and date window at 3, all surrounded by an internal tachymetre.
This particular example is in amazing condition. Has just had a full service and refinish by Lewis Watch Co here in Australia, and the case features extremely sharp polished bevels, and gorgeous brushed surfaces free from marks, dings or dents. There's some minor marks on the the case back which could not be removed. See images for full condition details.
The tritium dial is in lovely condition, with no marks visible. Hands are tritium, and also in fantastic condition. The internal tachy was replaced at service, as was the mineral crystal, pushers and crown.
As above, just had a full overhaul by Omega service agent Lewis Watch Co in July 2024, with all functions operating perfectly and keeping fantastic time at around +7 secs a day. Sits under Omega service warranty until 2026.
It comes mounted to a brand new and perfectly matched Staib mesh bracelet. For those that don't know Staib, they make some of the best mesh bracelets in the world, and are an OEM supplier to some very big name watch brands. Will fit up to a 7.5in wrist.
Comes with Omega service box, removed parts, and receipt for service works.
Examples don't come much better than this.
