Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date 14K Yellow Gold 1503/7
The 1503 may not be familiar to a lot of folks as you don't see all that many of them, but they're a fantastic choice if your preference is for the 34mm Oyster case as they encapsulate the romance of Rolex with a luxury edge from the mid-century period to a tee.
This particular example would date from circa-1970 with it's 2.2mil serial, and presents in lovely condition. The sunray champagne tritium dial in stellar condition, with a very minor blemishes only really visible under UV, or with a loupe. All tritium plots are in place. Open 6's and 9's.
The hands look to have been replaced at some point. Glow brighter than the dial under UV, and drop off at a slower rate.
The previously polished solid 14K yellow gold case retains decent lug thickness, and shows only light marks. Serial number and reference number is extremely clear.
Plexi shows minor marks.
Comes mounted on a lovely HANDDN handmade Navy Box Calf strap with aftermarket gold tone buckle.
Was recently fully overhauled by Woods Watchmaking, Australia's best independent Rolex watchmaker. Rotor was replaced, as well as a full movement service, new plexi and new seals as well as some work to the case flange to restore a previous poor polish job.
Comes with service receipt, and Watch vault cleaning cloth.
