Czapek Quai Des Bergues Renaissance First Edition No. 23
Inspired by the reference 3430 pocket watch, created in the 1850's by the famous and historically important watchmaker Francois Czapek, the Quai Des Bergues is a modern take on traditional watchmaking.
The fabulously detailed stainless steel case measures in at 42.5mm in diameter and just 11.9mm thick, with a 50.7mm lug-to-lug. Finishing is superb, and the evacuations in the side of the case allow it to feel thinner than it already is. Within this case lies a multi-layered silver dial with brushed hour track, with a lightly frosted opaline centre. At 8 you have a lightly frosted sub-seconds with a beautifully polished and brushed chapter ring, and another at 4 for the power reserve indicator to create balance. Indices are applied and finely finished. The hands themselves are beautifully finished, with black polishing allowing them to play with light, and also provide contrast against the silver dial. It's this sort of attention to detail you love to see on watches at this price point.
Powering it is the amazing SXH1 developed by Jean-Francois Mojon at Chronode. It utilises twin barrels for its 7 day power reserve, with frosted finishing, fired blue screws, mirrored bevels and a solarised balance wheel. Final finishing of the anglage is done by hand, so this is a technically capable and very finely finished movement.
It's mounted to a very high quality factory Czapek 'gator strap, with finely finished tang buckle to mirror the case.
This particular piece was first made in 2016, delivered in 2020, and presents in TZ Near Mint condition. Has been worn sparingly, and the case shows almost no signs of wear other than the lightest of swirlies and hairlines. Please see images for full condition details.
Service history is unknown. All functions operating as they should, and keeping time at around -4 to - 6 secs a day at full wind.
Comes with outer box, inner box, papers (expired), and Watch Vault cleaning cloth.
