Linde Werdelin Spidolite SA DLC

One of the coolest pieces ever made by Linde Werdelin, and absolutely one of the rarest on the secondary market.

Linde Werdelin holds a special place in our hearts here at Watch Vault, with our personal collection having at least one Linde Werdelin in it continuously for the past 10 years. We've owned a lot of them over the years, and to us this is in their top 5 pieces ever made.

The Spidolite I is their first generation of Spidolite pieces. While all pieces in this series are brilliant, the 'SA' portion of the name is what marks this piece out as something really special. Made in conjunction with renowned Danish independent watchmaker Svend Anderson, it has a skeletonized dial giving a view into the Svend Anderson modified 1970’s A.S Caliber 1876 movement contained within.

The titanium case has been milled to shave away as much excess weight as possible, and measures in at 46mm, but that is ear-to-ear from the underside of the case, so we find it wears more like a 44mm due to the large bezel and angled case extensions. From the face-side it measures 44mm across, and 40mm across the bezel. Don't be put off by the dimensions, the ergonomic case with downward facing lugs and flared strap makes it very comfy on the wrist. It's water resistant to 300m, and comes on some of the best straps in the industry.

This particular piece was first sold in 2011, and presents in TZ Excellent condition. The DLC is near-perfect with a tiny scuff under 6 and another near 8 on the bezel area. They're very small. There's also some slight discolouration in the DLC on inner sculpted sides of the case which is due to the application process we believe. The rotor also shows some staining around its outer edge, perhaps also form being in a humid environment or from the process used in manufacture. Please see images for full condition details.

Its mounted to the original LW Racing Textile strap with matching Titanium DLC buckle. The strap shows signs of degradation in the cutouts from humidity (watch was sold in Singapore), but otherwise shows little signs of wear.

It was purchased by ourselves off the original owner in 2021, and was just given a full mechanical service by Woods Watchmaking. Timekeeping is currently at around +7 seconds a day at mid-200's amplitude.
