Cartier Santos Dumont Large Quartz WSSA0022
Cartier has had a huge resurgence of late within the watch collector community, and with very good reason. Not only the originator of the wrist-watch as we know it today, their unfailing dedication to their own aesthetic makes them instantly recognisable, and are deserving of the respect and reverence they command.
Along with the Tank line, the Cartier Santos line is perhaps their most well known, with this iconic line being widely recognised as the birthplace of the wrist watch. Created at the request of early-Aviator Alberto Santos-Dumont by his friend Louis Cartier, not only was it the first wrist-watch, but also the first tool-watch.
The version we have here is the WSSA0022, the largest of the Quartz Santos Dumont series measuring in at 31.4mm x 43.5mm. This is a rectangular watch, so the 31.4mm tends to wear quite a bit larger than it’s on paper spec suggests. It features a stainless steel case, quartz movement, satin-finish sunray dial with Roman markers, and finished off with blued steel hands. Mounted on an elegant 'gator strap with tang buckle, it’s classic Cartier.
This particular was first sold locally in August 2024 and presents in TZ 'Near Mint' condition, with no signs of wear other than some light hairlines and swirlies on the high-polish bezel. Please see images for full condition details.
Remains under manufacturers warranty, and operating as it should.
