Grand Seiko 6146-8050 61GS 38mm

One of the most beautiful Grand Seiko pieces ever made, and highly sought after for good reason, the 6146-8050 is a rare bird indeed having only apparently been produced for a few months in 1972. 

Utilising the case from it's much more expensive, and equally as rare, 6185-8020 VFA, it has an oversized 38mm 61GS case with the most amazing vertically faceted crystal. A lot of these have been lost to time, but this piece retains a period-correct faceted crystal which makes all the difference aesthetically.

Powering it is the calibre 6146 Hi-Beat movement, creating a combination excellent accuracy, rarity and amazing 70's Seiko aesthetics. Special watch.

This particular piece hails from 1972 (as they all do), and presents in excellent vintage condition. Case is thick and sharp, and shows some dings and scratches from it's 52 years on this planet, but is quite amazing for its age. Caseback medallion fully intact, and all markings very crisp.

Dial is in excellent condition, with no noticeable damage. Faceted crystal is in amazing condition.

Currently mounted to an aftermarket vintage stretch-style bracelet which suits is perfectly.

Was apparently serviced around 5 years ago by the previous owner. All functions operate as they should, winding is smooth, and at the time of writing is currently keeping time at around +8 to +12 a day.

No box or papers. Comes with Watch Vault Travel Case and Watch Vault cleaning cloth.

You'd be hard pressed to find a much better example than this one, and it's quite astounding value for the amount of watchmaking you're getting. These are still excellent value.
