H. Moser & Cie Henry Double Hairspring Platinum 324.607-006

A creation from the pre-Meylan era of Moser, the Henry in platinum is a seldom seen watch on the secondary market, but one that should not be overlooked.

Let's start with the case, which measures in at 38.6mm x 41.1mm, creating real presence on the wrist despite it's svelte 10.4mm thickness. The case itself is crafted in platinum, and is heavily sculptured on its sides, with a mix of polished and brushed sections that is both elegant and modern, and still seen in the current lineup of Moser watches.

Within this gorgeous case lies an sunburst ardoise (slate) dial, complimenting the platinum case perfectly. A sunken sub-register to the seconds lies at 6, with beautiful applied arabics at 12, 3 and 9 and topped with lovely feuille hands.

The movement is pretty special, as you'd assume given it is mentioned in the model name. Known as the HMC 324, it is a manual wind with a 4 day power reserve, and utilises an Andrea Strehler developed Strauman double hairspring which was first seen in this Henry model line. So what is it? Essentially, it is a system whereby instead of a single hairspring as most movements have, two identical hairsprings are stacked on top of each other, with second rotated by 180° in relation to the first, and it is designed to counteract the gravitational effect on the balance. Not only is the movement innovative, but it was clearly created for this watch as it perfectly fills the case back. No cost-cutting here. Finishing is of a very nice level, too, and it's a joy to behold behind the sapphire caseback.

Finishing it off is a Moser leather strap with platinum buckle.

This particular one-owner example was purchased as new-old stock in 2018 and presents in TZ 'Good' condition. Has been worn regularly, and shows scratches and scuffs commensurate with this use. There's small nicks and pin dents present on the case, too, though nothing large. Remains unpolished. See images for full condition details.

Strap shows quite a bit of wear, but still serviceable.

Has not been serviced. Currently keeping time at around -10 secs a day at 350 degrees of amplitude. Winds smoothly. Shows some beat rate error, so likely due a service but still working fine.
